Quarry House Tavern is a true dive bar in Silver Spring, Maryland, just up the street from the DC border. Quarry House was a Silver Spring favorite, but a few years ago a fire left the bar without a home. Fortunately, they were able to open a temporary location across the street to keep business flowing.
The temporary location had become a common hangout place for my friend group. I loved that Quarry House was one of only places to get true bar food in Silver Spring. The burgers and half smokes are amazing, but the biggest hit are probably their tots. If I go to Quarry House, I want tots. They are the crispiest tots I have ever had.
Look at those tots!
Quarry House reopened in their original location a couple months ago. My friends and I went on opening day (though we had to wait in a line for the better part of an hour before we got inside). The food was just what I had come to expect with Quarry House, but they truly kicked it up with the beer. They built this beautiful new tap which greatly expanded their draught list.
My friends and I went again this past Tuesday. This week it is Burger Week, and Quarry House is running a special. We got our burgers and tots for a total of $7 (normally $10-$12). That means more money for beer, right? The burger was just to my liking, and the tots were crisp and well seasoned.
If you are in the DC area, I highly recommend checking out Quarry House Tavern on Georgia Ave. My favorite combination is the patty melt with tater tots and whatever beer I am feeling at the moment.
